COUNTER-STRIKE:SOURCE
NEWS UPDATE 2-21-05
My, it has been a
long time since I've updated this page. Here are some exclusive updates:
The clan has officially
moved to CS: source, which is personally to my disadvantage because of
how slow it is.
For the other clan
members who want to stay with 1.6, the clan has joined forces with the
Infernal clan done by Wesley.
I just made an
anti-steam/cs source tutorial for htose who want to play without source.
NEWS UPDATE 8-24-04
Just a
days ago, Steam released Counter-Strike: Source Beta, which is a
duplicate of the famous Counter-strike with enhanced graphics. Taking
advantage of the half life 2 graphics engine, CS source has become a new
precedent in visual graphics. Now there are new breathtaking graphics
and physics. Those with Condition zero will be able to beta test it.
CS:
Source has rag doll too and the new effects are hilarious. Now when one
gets shot and killed, their bodies bounce off the wall and lets gravity
takes over so each death action is practically different.
Now you
can interact with just about anything in the map. The barrels and trash
bits seemed just perfect to add to the map for now when they are shot,
they fly, or tumble. Its fun to use them for cover even though they get
blown away at the lightest blow. Grenades have been GREATLY improved.
First, Flashbangs. Now if it sees you, you go blind, and not just
blind, also deaf for a short while. HE grenades look better now, deal
more damage, and also has the deafening attribute. Now the smoke grenade
is awesome. Instead of this gray blob in the middle of nowhere, it has a
bang and then a really realistic dark cloud fades in and it is just
impossible to see through it. It is just wonderful. The last thing i
want to add about grenades is that when you throw it at people, it now
does damage and is just really fun for dodgeball scenarios.
Bullet
holes are also cool. Now it is based on the object being show. If its
like a crate, the holes are like holes in a crate unlike the old black
dot. When you shoot a wall, especially like the one in de_dust, dust
shoots out and it is just great eye candy. Also, when you shoot people
in the head and they have helmets on, this wicked cool looking spark
comes out instead of the yellow dashes in CS1.6. When you
shoot up a barrel and this is for people with nice video cards, unlike
my 32MB, the barrel looks as if it could crumble at any time. This came
as a disappointment, but the ejecting shells are a lot smaller and fly
out so fast that its hard to see where they fall. This might be more
realistic but the old
"cool-feeling-of-many-shells-flying-over-you-screen" is gone, but now
you get to see the other player crumble in cool ways as it can be.
Taking
screenshots is pretty hard and not fun. There is the old printscreen
button which works fine if you are playing in full screen, but that
takes one picture at the LIIMIT. There is also the go to "report bug"
and clicking take screenshot, but it doesn't come out in a high quality
fashion. its ugly and no one wants it. Another thing about the report
bug way is that you cannot move while taking the picture, so it is hard
to get some action in the picture. I bet that it will be easier when the
real version comes out, which should be like around next month. Note how
the terrorist is off the stairs in an angle instead of the
go-through0the wall fashion used in cs1.6 and how hes not in any
particular shape like how some were either spread eagle or face down in
the old series. Ragdoll is just great. AND here's my favorite part:
shooting dead bodies! Even though they are dead, doesnt mean you can't
shoot them anymore. Its nothing much, but just fun to show your anger
into overkilling, but theres no such thing as dismembering(i dont know
if I spelled that right) yet in cs unless you look at those servers with
the bodies exploding into skulls and chunks of red stuff when shot in
the head by an AWP. Yet another impressive factor of the new cs
source is the C4.

Ok, old version;
you would take out this not-even-plastic looking faded green box with a
small timer and some lines drawn on it as wire and a alienish hand pops
out and starts to type numbers into it, but you dont even see what you
type. Now the new version: Swish! These cool realistic skin colored
hands pop out and type in a number code that would be used to diffuse
the bomb. Bomb looks great too! Then when planted you can see the
numbers turn into *'s. And when a CT comes to diffuse it, the *'s slowly
turn back to the original numbers. How cool is that?

Now here
comes the part about the physics. I have already talked about the
barrels tumbling and rolling when you shoot them. Now here are the gun
physics. When you drop your gun, in this case, a MP5, then it doesnt
fall straight down in a flat horizontal way. It now flips in midair
which add to the realism. Now when it hits the ground it lies flat as
the ground, so if it is slanted, the gun lies slanted too, instead of
the gun partially into the ground because it is lying straight. Now, if
the hill is steep enough, the gun will slide down the hill which adds to
the cool effects. Now remember how I said that everything is pretty much
interactive. Well now are the guns. Shoot a gun on the ground and sparks
comes out, but thats not the only thing. It moves like a few feet away.
This adds more of the
shooting-at-dropped-gun-when-person-wants-it-and-making-him-or-her-chase-it.
OK
one of the last things I am going to mention in this long, yet
incomplete article of CS:S. It is the scopes of the sniper rifles. Now
you see a somewhat blurred but cool version of what isahead, so
you can now try those no scope kills. The only reason you dont see it in
this picture to the left is because my video card isnt good enough, but
I am sure that when I get a decent one, then I'll post all the
scope pictures you want. Oh and one more thing. My friend told me
this, except I haven't seen it yet, but when you shoot the double doors
in de_dust, and you shoot in a semicircle near the edge, the whole chunk
falls out. Sounds cool, but now sure if it is true. Peace out.
